Louise Hill

Louise Hill’s love of design and creativity stems from her upbringing in a family of talented designers. She was surrounded by beautiful textiles and artwork throughout her life.

After graduating from Art School in London in 1990, she specialized in high-end packaging design for over 15 years. Louise worked with clients such as United Distillers (now Diageo), Crabtree & Evelyn, Highgrove (HRH King Charles), Fortnum & Mason’s, and Marks & Spencer. The companies she worked for included Butcher & Gundersen, Peter Windett & Associates, M&S, and Ian Logan Design.

During this period, Louise developed a deep appreciation for color, typography, illustration, and intricate artwork. These passions now find expression in her current design venture as a photographic/mixed media artist. Her design background is evident in the meticulous planning and multilayering of each artwork, which incorporates an abundance of intricate detail.

Taking a break from design, Louise embarked on an inspiring journey through Asia with her husband. After freelancing and guest lecturing at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia, for three years, they returned to their home in the “alternative arty” city of Brighton, UK, to welcome the arrival of their twin boys. Seeking their next thrilling adventure, they relocated to Asia, first to Shanghai, then Hong Kong, and now Singapore. Louise’s heart belongs to Asia, as she continues to draw inspiration from the vibrant energy and captivating colors she encounters both at home and during her travels.

Her impressive collection captures the signature cultural “good things” she has encountered on her long artistic journey across Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore.

In her “Hong Kong Neon” print, Hill captures the city’s iconic neon signs and street scenes, blending old and new elements with vivid colours to convey urban edginess. Her “Chinoiserie” series blends intricate imagery and traditional Asian aesthetics, weaving together vintage objects and fabrics to create luxurious patterns inspired by traditional Chinese Lattice wooden designs that evoke a unique nostalgic charm of legacy.
